Duration of Project: 6-7 Months Windows Management Experts (WME) is looking for a motivated and experienced Technical Writer to join one of our valued clients at their office of Innovation & Technology. The resource will support a project to update the client’s Standard Accounting Procedures (SAP) Update Project. The SAP Update project is delivering over 200 updated procedures to reflect current processes across the organization.
As a Technical Writer, you will review and update the client’s Standard Accounting Procedures (SAPs) from June 2023 through December 2023. The goal is to complete the update of 200+ SAPs and to rescind obsolete SAPs, where applicable. SAPs are internal documentation of the client’s internal controls and procedures for key business processes.
The ideal candidate for this position should possess a strong aptitude for translating complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation. You will collaborate closely with subject matter experts, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure accurate representation of the updated procedures.
Your exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to work within a dynamic team environment will play a pivotal role in enhancing the accessibility and usability of critical documentation for the SAP Update Project.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
- 6 years progressive experience, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Experience in the production and delivery of standard operation procedure documents, artifacts, and templates.
- Proficiency with various Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Adept at coordination and integration of content from various Stakeholders.
- Strong ownership of assigned documents and artifacts from beginning to end.
- At least 3 years’ experience working on internal controls documentation.
Responsibilities of the Desired Technical Writer:
- Perform a technical review of existing procedures and review and evaluate the relevance of existing documentation.
- Determine if processes and procedures are outdated.
- Conduct meetings with control owners as necessary
- Review procedures and recommend updates to reflect current processes. The resource will be required to have knowledge of government organizational processes and be able to perform technical writing to update the procedure document so that it reflects current best practices in government.
- Assess the need for automation and standardization and provide recommendations for standardization and automation. Update SAP to reflect implemented automation/standardization.
- Review SAPs for regulatory compliance and reference local, state, federal and other guidance.
- The resource will be required to provide technical updates to the SAP document and advise/recommend process improvements to internal stakeholders.
- Identify process pain points and recommend areas of improvement.
- Provide enhancements to the existing procedure documents’ scope, content, and readability.
