Windows Management Experts (WME) is looking for a motivated & experienced Core Cloud Infrastructure Engineer Role to join one of our valued clients for a 12-week-long project. Your core responsibilities for this role include discovering and designing application patterns for the client company.

This task will require you to review application components to identify patterns that can be standardized and reused across different applications. To do this, you will need to have experience with application architecture and design patterns and be able to identify commonalities across different application components.

Your job also includes creating a set of guidelines that developers can follow to ensure that new applications are developed using the same standardized patterns. Then, you will define the standard configuration for ARM templates. This will involve documenting the ARM template configuration requirements and creating a set of guidelines that developers can follow when creating new ARM templates.

Most importantly, WME is looking for some exceptional communication & interpersonal skills in our upcoming team member. The candidate’s toolbox must be complete and diverse. From being technically savvy to displaying a vigorous passion for learning beyond their traditional areas of expertise, the resource must prove to be an asset to the company.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Education:

  • Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure services and components, including storage, networking, security, and identity management.
  • Experience designing and configuring Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates to deploy infrastructure components and applications in a repeatable and consistent manner.
  • Ability to review and analyze application components to understand their dependencies, requirements, and constraints.
  • Strong design thinking skills to develop application patterns and standards that can be easily adopted and scaled across different projects and teams.
  • Ability to document application pattern standards, components, and ARM template configuration requirements in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with application development teams, architects, and other stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide guidance on infrastructure design and deployment.
  • Experience with automation tools and techniques to streamline infrastructure deployment and management tasks, such as PowerShell, ARM templates, and terraform.
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automated testing.
  • Strong scripting skills in languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash, to automate repetitive tasks and create custom solutions.
  • Expertise with monitoring and logging tools, such as Azure Monitor, to monitor infrastructure and application performance, detect issues, and troubleshoot problems.
  • Knowledge of network design principles and best practices, including virtual networks, subnets, firewalls, load balancers, and DNS.
  • Understanding of cloud security principles and best practices, including access control, encryption, identity management, and compliance.
  • Ability to design scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions that can handle high traffic, spikes in demand, and failover scenarios.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve infrastructure and application issues, troubleshoot technical problems, and optimize performance.
  • Creativity and innovation skills to explore new solutions and technologies that can improve infrastructure design, deployment, and management.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Flexibility with supporting mission-critical, 24×7 projects.

Preferred Qualifications (As a plus):

  • Reviewing the current, proposed Azure core configuration, with Azure Landing Zones, Azure Firewall, and associated configurations.
  • Developing an approach for network segmentation / Zero Trust Network Access
  • Developing an action plan to address known process deficiencies.
  • Configuring/designing workflow templates to facilitate incident handling.

Note: (these responsibilities are associated with the job of a Network/Firewall/Azure Monitor Engineer. We will prefer a candidate who can perform this responsibility alongside the one mentioned above instead of opting for two different roles.)

Responsibilities of the Core Cloud Infrastructure Engineer:

  • Discover and design application patterns
    • Review application components
    • Define application pattern standards and components
    • Define standard configuration for ARM templates
    • Document ARM template configuration requirements
  • Collaborate with development teams to identify opportunities for automation, containerization, and other modernization approaches.
  • Create and maintain documentation of application architecture, including high-level and low-level design documents.
  • Develop and maintain a library of reusable code modules, libraries, and frameworks for use in application development.
  • Identify and mitigate potential security vulnerabilities in application architecture and design.
  • Perform code reviews and quality assurance checks to ensure adherence to application pattern standards.
  • Develop guidelines for implementing cloud-native application patterns, such as microservices and serverless architectures.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and their potential impact on application architecture and design.
  • Work with DevOps teams to automate the deployment and management of applications in the cloud environment.
  • Develop and maintain standards for application monitoring and logging.
  • Provide guidance and support to development teams in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks and strategies for application patterns.
  • Monitor and optimize application performance through tools such as Application Insights and Azure Monitor.
  • Develop and maintain continuous integration and delivery pipelines for application patterns.
  • Work with security teams to ensure compliance with security standards and regulations.
  • Provide training and support to other team members on application architecture and design best practices.

Core Values:

  • Integrity (Doing What’s Right)
  • Inclusion (Encouraging Diversity)
  • Teamwork (Working Together)
  • Excellence (Being Your Best)
  • Accountability (Taking Personal Responsibility)
