Windows Management Experts (WME) is looking for a motivated & experienced VMWare/Horizon Infrastructure Engineer Role for one of our valued clients. Your primary responsibility will be to build, configure, support, and maintain the VMware Horizon.
The ideal Engineer will be deeply technical but must be able to navigate the relationship dynamics with VMWare as well. Our client’s goal is to impress and win long-term VMWare/Horizon Infrastructure Engineer Required clients by driving an unprecedented virtualization roadmap for them, and you are supposed to help it happen.
The VMware/Horizon Engineer will review the current VMWare environment, plan, and design for the future, and secure the state of the VMWare environment for the enterprise. That said, you’ll perform analysis and research of systems and networks. You’ll also review detailed business and technical requirements in order to recommend technical solutions.
Most importantly, WME is looking for some exceptional communication & interpersonal skills in our upcoming team member. The candidate’s toolbox must be complete and diverse. From being technically savvy to displaying a vigorous passion for learning beyond their traditional areas of expertise, the resource must prove to be an asset to the company.
Required Skills/Qualifications/Education:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university with Computer Science or Business administration, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in information systems, computer networking, telecommunications, and systems development or management.
- Strong understanding of security best practices and the ability to implement and enforce security measures within the VMware Horizon environment, including multi-factor authentication, data encryption, and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation tools, such as PowerCLI and vRealize Orchestrator, to streamline and automate administrative tasks in the VMware Horizon environment.
- At least 3 years of experience with VMware Horizon View, AppVolumes, vRops, and VDI Administration.
- Extensive experience with Windows OS, PowerShell, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Image management
- Experience with managing and troubleshooting Converged or Hyperconverged infrastructure environments.
- Expertise in designing and implementing scalable VMware Horizon infrastructure solutions, including deploying and configuring virtual desktop pools, application virtualization, and profile management.
- Proficiency in integrating VMware Horizon with other enterprise systems, such as Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and enterprise storage solutions.
- Experience with managing down-level domain environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot, identify, and correct issues within the VDI environment.
- Ability to work with other teams to resolve issues and determine solutions for users.
- Working knowledge of server, network, and end-user devices.
- Experience in optimizing and fine-tuning VMware Horizon performance, including load balancing, resource allocation, and network optimization for remote access scenarios.
- Familiarity with VMware Horizon Cloud services and the ability to architect and manage cloud-based VDI deployments.
- Experience with ServiceNow- incidents, changes, problem records, requests.
- In-depth knowledge of advanced VMware Horizon features and capabilities, such as NVIDIA GPU virtualization, virtual desktop cloning, and workspace ONE integration.
Responsibilities of the Desired VMWare/Horizon Infrastructure Engineer
- Applies solution design and support while consistently meeting customer needs. Leverages technical knowledge and industry experience to design, build and maintain infrastructure technology solutions.
- Develops software components and hardware for projects; aligns these with business strategies and objectives.
- Independently solves common problems and updates applications with new technology.
- Collaborates with engineers, architects, developers and other staff to meet project objectives.
- Analyzes the technological needs of customers and provides ongoing support for clients.
- Management of the virtual desktop environment through automation (PowerCLI preferred)
- Engage as requested with appropriate teams to evaluate, guide, and support the implementation of custom VDI solutions.
- Ownership of the processes involving provisioning, rebuilding, and decommissioning virtual desktops
- Support the virtual desktop infrastructure.
- Collaborate with the desktop team to support clients using virtual desktops.
- Collaborate with the virtualization team to support existing VMware infrastructure.
- Collaborate with the architecture team for the design of the VDI Environment
- Leverage existing corporate application packaging and operating system deployment practices
- Document standards, policies, and procedures involving the VDI environment
- Demonstrate management of change to the VDI environment through planned implementations and minimal disruption
- Other project related and/or BAU activities.
