Windows Management Experts (WME) is looking for a motivated & experienced VMWare Horizon Architecture Role for one of our valued clients. Our client is a finance-related company, and they need a candidate for a top-level VMWare Horizon Architecture for an existing project that they want to run over the course of a few years.
The ideal architect would be deeply technical but must be able to support their sales team and a very demanding set of client sponsors and navigate the relationship dynamics with VMWare as well. Our client’s goal is to impress and win long-term clients by driving an unprecedented virtualization roadmap for them, and you are supposed to help it happen.
The VMware Architect will review the current VMWare environment, plan, and design for the future, and secure the state of the VMWare environment for the enterprise. You’ll also help with the emigration of the client’s current environment to a new VMWare 5.5 environment.
That said, you’ll perform analysis and research of systems and networks. You’ll also review detailed business and technical requirements in order to recommend technical solutions.
Most importantly, WME is looking for some exceptional communication & interpersonal skills in our upcoming team member. The candidate’s toolbox must be complete and diverse. Required Skills/Qualifications/Education:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university with Computer Science or Business administration, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in information systems, computer networking, telecommunications, and systems development or management.
- At least 3 years of experience with VMware Horizon Architecture.
- Proven hands-on experience implementing, operating, and maintaining enterprise-level virtualization systems (VMware) providing virtualization capabilities and services.
- Solid expertise with VMware virtualization, NSXT design & configuration with solid networking experience.
- Expertise with second-level engineering design functions and complex solution formulation from business requirements and architectural specifications.
- Experience with ServiceNow or Confluence (preferred)
- Analyzes, administers, and supports VMWare Horizon View VDI.
- Requirements analysis, gathering, and integration for Horizon and infrastructure.
- Experience with public, private, or hybrid cloud platforms (AWS, IBM cloud, etc.)
- Expertise with Patch management tools like SolarWinds, Automox, etc.
- VMware app volumes administration support
- AppStack building, Package installation, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of ITIL tools like Remedy and processes like Incident management, Change management, etc.
- Solid expertise in Disaster Recovery, High Availability, and Fault tolerance.
Responsibilities of the Desired VMWare Horizon Architecture:
- Develops scripts to automate the monitoring of the VDI environment.
- Oversees and troubleshoots migration to the Horizon environment.
- Coordinates with different stakeholders and performs RCA for Major Incidents.
- Creates presentations and replaces or reconfigures major business systems under the supervision of IT management
- Provisions servers: adding, allocating, and managing vDisks for end-user devices.
- Ensures scalability & predictability of the deployed infrastructure on-prem and off-prem.
- Identifies and resolves problems with internal support staff and vendors, sets transaction strategy with vendors, and oversees adherence to agreements.
- Keeps looking for the latest trends and activities in the client’s business niche and gives advice and ideas.
- Engineers, documents, delivers, and maintains VMware Horizon Servers in accordance with Enterprise Infrastructure Engineering protocols and security guidelines.
- Windows server patching, security configurations, vulnerability scans/remediation, and audits.
- Experience with plans for deploying and administering virtual machines, images, and vApps.
- Utilizes Site Recovery Manager (SRM) for disaster recovery failover.
- Manages and balances virtual machine resources across hosts in the clusters
- Configures and manages virtual guests using vCenter Orchestrator, vSphere Management Assistant (vMA), and vRealize.
- Serves as the technical Merger & Acquisition lead as needed.
- Participates in on-call support activities.
- Observes issues and formulates plans to implement solutions.
- Ensures that all changes to the environment adhere to established ITIL Change Management processes and procedures.
- Prepares, tracks, and reports on the status of activities.
- Facilitates the completion of project tasks.
- Helps the Project Core Team make timely decisions.
