Windows Management Experts (WME) is looking for a motivated & experienced Network/Firewall/Azure Monitor Engineer Role to join one of our valued clients for a 12-week-long project. The ideal candidate for this job will have a strong background in network and firewall management, as well as significant experience with Azure Monitor. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and monitoring network and firewall configurations, ensuring optimal performance and security. You will also be responsible for implementing and maintaining Azure Monitor to help identify and resolve potential issues.
The preferred candidate will also have experience with the Discovery and design of application patterns. However, as a security expert, you will be responsible for reviewing the environment configuration and hierarchy, recommending network security groups (NSGs) and application security groups (ASGs), developing core Azure configuration in line with Zero Trust Standards, and developing an approach for network segmentation.
In this role, you will also develop an action plan to address known process deficiencies and configure/design workflow templates to facilitate incident handling. You will monitor the incident queue to ensure tickets are being addressed and troubleshoot problems within your defined areas. That said, you will provide information on components and services availability, capacity, and performance metrics, and report incidents and complicated issues to management and other IT resources, as appropriate.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Education:
- Experience with configuring and managing virtual private networks (VPNs) for secure remote access to network resources.
- Knowledge of routing and switching protocols, such as OSPF, BGP, and VLANs.
- Familiarity with network security best practices, including firewall rules and access control lists (ACLs).
- Experience with monitoring and analyzing network traffic using tools such as Wireshark.
- Knowledge of Azure networking concepts, such as virtual networks, load balancers, and application gateways.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms including Azure and AWS (Preferred).
- Experience with configuring and managing intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS).
- Knowledge of network performance optimization techniques, such as Quality of Service (QoS) and WAN optimization.
- Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory configuration and management.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell for automating network and server configuration tasks.
- Expertise with service architecture, design, resource configuration, and business impact of events and symptoms.
- Disaster recovery activities, such as executing system failover scripts.
- Strong facilitation, teamwork, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Flexibility with supporting mission-critical, 24×7 projects.
Responsibilities of the Desired Network/Firewall/Azure Monitor Engineer:
- Review the current, proposed Azure core configuration, with Azure Landing Zones, Azure Firewall, and associated configurations to include:
- Review core configuration settings, including subscription structure and networking
- Review environment configuration and hierarchy (development, test, QA, prod, etc.)
- Network Routes, VNet and Firewall Configuration
- Web Application Firewalls, Application Gateway, Cloudflare and Azure Firewall
- Connect to Sentinel and Logging
- Policies and Filters
- DNS Namespace
- Recommend Network Security Groups (NSGs) and Application Security Groups (ASGs)
- Develop Core Azure Configuration aligning with Zero Trust Standards
- Develop an approach for network segmentation / Zero Trust Network Access
- Identify applications and network access needs
- Conduct service mapping using Azure Monitor for existing applications
- Focus on Data Center to be Collapsed
- Define strategy for access policies and tooling
- Define the approach for encryption through a network
- Define Zero Trust Network Access Capabilities
- Determine integration with Cloudflare including ingress and egress
- Develop an action plan to address known process deficiencies.
- Configure/design workflow templates to facilitate incident handling.
