Windows Management Experts (WME) is looking for a motivated and experienced Defender for Endpoint/SCCM Engineer Role to join one of our valued clients. They will be responsible for installations, configurations, troubleshooting, and documentation for SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.

The ideal candidate for this job must have at least five years of experience in SCCM administration and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint management. The individual must be familiar with the Endpoint management framework and be able to deploy, configure and manage it effectively. That said, they should possess a strong understanding of SCCM architecture, including site roles, distribution points, and client settings.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the SCCM environment, including servers, virtual machines, and storage systems. They will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of these systems and provide technical guidance to junior engineers. Moreover, they should possess a solid understanding of security best practices, such as firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.

That said, WME is looking for some exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in our new team member. The candidate’s toolbox must be complete and diverse. Required SkillsQualifications/Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university with Computer Science or Software Engineering as its major coursework, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Endpoint security and SCCM.
  • Proven experience in deploying and maintaining Defender for Endpoint.
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows operating systems and networking concepts.
  • Strong understanding of malware analysis and threat detection.
  • Knowledge of endpoint security solutions, including antivirus, anti-malware, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Experience in deploying and maintaining SCCM infrastructure.
  • Ability to write and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation.
  • Experience in implementing security policies and configurations for endpoint devices.
  • Expertise with performing vulnerability assessments and patch management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to endpoint security and SCCM.
  • Proficient in deploying and managing group policies for Windows endpoints.
  • Experience in integrating Defender for Endpoint with other security tools, such as SIEM and threat intelligence platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory and identity management concepts, such as LDAP and Kerberos.
  • Ability to monitor and analyze endpoint security logs and alerts, using tools like Sysmon and Windows Event Viewer.
  • Experience with Infrastructure Design with System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007/2012/Current in a medium-to-large environment.
  • Ability to communicate moderately difficult technical matters to internal customers.
  • Experience administering an Active Directory environment.

  • Reasonable high-level technical knowledge of workstations, servers, databases, applications, and system environment concepts.

Responsibilities of the Desired Defender for Endpoint/SCCM Engineer:

  • Design, deploy, and manage Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM) infrastructure, including policy management, software deployment, and inventory management.
  • Deploy and manage Defender for Endpoint, including threat management, device management, and security reporting.
  • Monitor and investigate security events and incidents across the organization’s endpoint and network infrastructure.
  • Configure and maintain endpoint security policies, including antivirus, firewall, and intrusion detection and prevention systems.
  • Develop and implement endpoint security best practices, including secure system configuration and patch management.
  • Manage endpoint encryption technologies, including BitLocker and third-party encryption solutions.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on endpoints and infrastructure components.
  • Coordinate with other IT teams to ensure endpoint and infrastructure components are properly integrated and secured.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate security risks and threats.
  • Conduct security awareness training for end-users to promote good security practices and mitigate risks.
  • Investigate security breaches and other security incidents and provide detailed incident reports.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of security threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices, and incorporate this knowledge into security strategies and solutions.
  • Manage and maintain security-related documentation, including policies, procedures, and compliance reports.
  • Participate in security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal security policies.
  • Continuously improve endpoint and infrastructure security by evaluating and implementing new security technologies and practices.
  • Provides people leadership for multiple, diverse, and cross-functional teams and individuals.
  • Understands and presents a technical vision and solutions in the form of modules, customizations, and integrations.
