Windows Management Experts (WME) is looking for an Azure VWAN Engineer role for one of our valued partners. They will assist our client in troubleshooting/optimizing their Azure VWAN and ExpressRoute setup. This role requires a deep understanding of Azure networking, especially addressing cross-region traffic routing issues.
They have an Azure VWAN with two Virtual Hubs, one in the East US, and one in the West US. They also have an ExpressRoute which is connected to both hubs. With Azure vNETs in each region that are peered to those regional hubs, traffic across regions appears to route from vNet -> Hub -> ExpressRoute -> Hub -> vNet, rather than the expected Hub-to-Hub traffic.So, they need an engineer experienced in Azure VWAN and Express Route. They’ll want to demonstrate their current issue, and any necessary environment configuration, and troubleshoot or discuss any potential changes needed for their environment to function as expected.
You will play a pivotal role in diagnosing/resolving complex network configuration issues. Ultimately, you’ll ensure smooth connectivity between virtual networks across regions.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Azure VWAN and ExpressRoute and the ability to quickly assess necessary adjustments to the current environment. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a fast-moving team and solve technical challenges. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual, who can work effectively in dynamic conditions and within deadlines. That said, the preferred candidate should expect to work 40 hours per week and should be flexible enough to work part-time hours as well.
Qualifications:
- Strong experience with Azure Virtual WAN and ExpressRoute.
- Proficient configuring / troubleshooting Azure vNETs and hubs.
- In-depth knowledge of routing & Azure traffic management.
- Hands-on experience with cross-region traffic routing.
- Expertise in Azure Hub-to-Hub connectivity.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex Azure networking issues.
- Familiarity with ExpressRoute optimization.
- Knowledge of virtual network gateway configuration.
- Experience with multi-region network setups in Azure.
- Strong understanding of network traffic patterns and flows in the cloud.
- Experience with routing protocols in the cloud.
- Ability to work under pressure and provide quick solutions.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to document network configurations. Flexibility to work remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot Azure VWAN and ExpressRoute connectivity.
- Diagnose / resolve cross-region traffic routing problems.
- Analyze current network configuration and suggest improvements.
- Work with clients to understand their specific challenges.
- Demonstrate the current issue and walk through the environment setup.
- Configure necessary changes in Azure vNETs.
- Ensure proper routing through Hub-to-Hub traffic.
- Perform environment assessments to optimize network performance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand expected network behavior.
- Implement changes for improved functionality.
- Manage ExpressRoute connections to both regional hubs.
- Document the troubleshooting process and solutions provided.
- Assist with ad-hoc requests. Communicate progress effectively.
