Windows Management Experts (WME) is looking for a motivated & experienced Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer Role for one of our valued clients. Our client needs a candidate for their office of Innovation & Technology for a 7-month long project (there is a fair chance of extension in the duration of the assignment, beyond this duration.)
Our client is a large-scale organization, and they are seeking a full-time contractual position to help them optimize and manage their organization’s IT Command Center processes and tools. This person will be responsible for training Junior-level technicians on the NOC best practices and managing IT incidents. That said, the person will play a crucial role in improving the overall IT Incident Management process/framework for our client.
As an NOC engineer, you will be responsible for setting up, managing, and monitoring a network from any centralized location. That said, you’ll perform a back-end role and have experience with servers, networking, and IT work. You’ll also manage IT operations and network equipment like routers, firewalls, and access points and troubleshoot networks.
Most importantly, WME is looking for some exceptional communication & interpersonal skills in our upcoming team member. The candidate’s toolbox must be complete and diverse. From being technically savvy to displaying a vigorous passion for learning beyond their traditional areas of expertise, the resource must prove to be an asset to the company.
Required Skills/Qualifications/Education:
- Expertise with service architecture, design, resource configuration, and business impact of events and symptoms.
- Experience with monitoring tools, ITSM tools, backup, and DR tools.
- Disaster recovery activities, such as executing system failover scripts.
- Strong facilitation, teamwork, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
- Infrastructure and Platform Management: installs and configures infrastructure and platforms.
- Information Security Management: identifies and acts as the first line of support for information security events and incidents.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to train users in the process and coach people in best practices.
- Customer-focused and passionate about the customer experience.
- Familiarity with ITIL Incident Management.
- IT Operations or Technical Support experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility with supporting mission-critical, 24×7 projects.
Highly Desired/Preferred:
- IT Service Management experience.
- Strong knowledge of ITIL processes, with experience working with Change Management, Incident Management, and Problem Management.
- Broad experience in IT infrastructure and applications.
- Experience working with SysAid (ticketing system)
Responsibilities of the Desired Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer:
- Evaluates the current state of OIT’s ITCC processes
- Develops an action plan to address known process deficiencies.
- Configures/designs workflow templates to facilitate incident handling.
- Manages deployments by supporting the planning and execution of changes in production environments as well as patch management.
- Monitors the incident queue to ensure tickets are being addressed.
- Trains technicians on processes and procedures.
- Creates communication and training plans to enable the smooth implementation of new processes.
- Monitors systems for performance and capability by using diversified tools.
- Troubleshoots problems within their defined areas.
- Tracks and documents all defects and resolutions in detail through a designated ticketing system.
- Provides information on components and services availability, capacity, and performance metrics
- Reports incidents and complicated issues to management and other IT resources, as appropriate.
