Windows Management Experts (WME) is looking for a motivated and experienced Business Continuity Planning/Disaster Recovery Engineer Role to join one of our client companies.

The person selected for this job will be responsible to ensure highly complex to advanced business continuity, emergency management, and disaster recovery planning and research work in support of our client company.

Assuming the role of Disaster Recovery engineer, your work includes developing local, regional, and country-wide plans or programs, developing procedures for implementing plans or programs, and developing procedures for measuring progress.

Moreover, you will develop, maintain, and implement business continuity strategies and solutions, including risk assessments, business impact analyses, and documentation of business continuity procedures. That said, you will plan, conduct, and debrief regular mock- exercises to test the adequacy of existing plans and strategies, and update procedures & plans regularly.

You will work under limited/complete supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. That said, you may also have to supervise the work of others. More importantly, the candidate should demonstrate great skill in creativity and innovation, the ability to thrive in a pressured environment, and possess excellent communication skills.

Also, the successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual, who can work effectively in dynamic conditions and within deadlines. That said, the preferred candidate should expect to work 40 hours per week and should be flexible enough to work part-time hours as well.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university with IT audit, IT Governance, Risk & Compliance as its major coursework.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Business Continuity Planning / Disaster Recovery.
  • Expertise with Systems Analysis: determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes
  • Extensive knowledge of government organization and administration, planning, formulation, coordination, implementation methodologies, and disaster recovery concepts.
  • Ability to resolve complex continuity and disaster planning issues in a diverse and decentralized environment.
  • Eagerness to learn new business technologies and to communicate effectively and supervise the work of others.
  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory procedures and processes.
  • Ability to rapidly assimilate information related to governmental regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Critical thinking abilities. You should have solid logic building and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Solid problem-solving abilities to identify complex problems and review relevant information to develop and evaluate options and implement remedies.
  • Extensive expertise in documentation and report writing.
  • Excellent record as a team member.
  • Flexibility with supporting mission-critical, 24×7 projects.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Strong Troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities of the Desired Business Continuity Planning / Disaster Recovery Engineer:

  • Advises the decision makers on regulatory and industry compliance and Disaster Recovery (DR)/Business Continuity Planning (BCP) / Emergency Planning best practices.
  • Gathers and processes relevant information for use by the decision-makers to make necessary decisions and to mitigate threats that may impact business operations.
  • Develops and identifies emergency response plans for recovery decisions and communications, continuity of critical company processes, and a temporary shutdown of non-critical processes to ensure smooth continuity of operations.
  • Identifies potential operational risks and challenges and prepares plans to avoid them.
  • Develops, implements, or evaluates business continuity and emergency management strategies, plans, and procedures.
  • Develops mitigation strategies and creates scenarios to re-establish operations in the event of business operations interruptions.
  • Oversees the development of risk-based scenario plans as directed by the company management.
  • Advises company officials on planning problems and technical phases of comprehensive planning projects.
  • Researches and prepares technical material for planning contracts and reports on planning projects.
  • Conducts, reviews, and evaluates risk assessments, business impact analysis plans, and planning proposals.
  • Assists in researching and coordinating disaster recovery vendor contracts and/or other associated agreements.
  • Works with third-party providers to properly link IT Disaster Recovery service targets to Company Business Continuity Plans and defined priorities and recovery requirements.
  • Provides management with budget data for business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Oversees continuity and disaster recovery testing, including methods such as recovery site testing, call trees, and tabletop testing, adjusting as needed, and assessing the company’s overall ability to continue operations.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments and technologies related to disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Documents procedures to assess and deal with changes in the original plan design and specifications.
  • Trains and guides juniors and fellows when needed.
  • Ensures timely resolution of problems.
